Picture Cheescake Squares
Yes, that's Jason Mraz and my all time favorite Rob Thomas at the Blythdale Children's hospital in Valhalla NY. It was WPLJ's 18Th annual Holiday Spectacular fundraising party. It was such a great day and it really gets me in the mood for Christmas. The Holiday Express was there also singing for the children. I help out during the holiday season for Toy's for Tot's.
When I came home today I did some baking and of coarse I have to share this recipe with you all. It's a no brainier and everyone loves them! You don't even have to turn on the oven, which is the best part.
- PEANUT BUTTER BALLS
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 1lb crunchy peanut butter
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
- 3 cups of Rice Krispies
In large bowl, mix together butter, sugar and peanut butter, then spoon in rice krispies. Refrigerate, make into small balls about 1 inch round and dip them in chocolate. Then back in the refrigerator.
Now get ready to put on some pounds! These are good and they pop right in your mouth. I don't think I ever met anyone who didn't like them, unless you allergic to peanuts of coarse!
Today I used Bakers semi-sweet squares. I just put them in the microwave and then dipped the peanut butter balls. It worked out quite well.

This is where all the action happens. Although I do have a small tiny kitchen, I can really whip it up. Remember, if doesn't matter how nice or how big your kitchen is, the food still tastes the same. On the inside of one of my doors, I have a list of Measurement Conversion Chart for easy access.
I've learned with a small kitchen, you MUST be organized, otherwise your in trouble. I have filled my cabinets with plenty of gadgets from one of my many favorite stores.
On to my Test Recipe of the Day
I tried out this recipe and I just loved it! They are great for the holidays for adding in that special desert. Yes, they are a little bit of work, but so worth the effort.
- CHEESECAKE SQUARES 350 degrees for 30 minutes
- 2 8oz blocks of cream cheese
- 1.5 cups of sugar divided 1 cup, 1/2 cup
- 1 tea vanilla
- 1 tea cinnamon
- 2 packages of original crescent rolls
- 1 stick of butter
- 9 X 13 pan
- Beat together the cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, vanilla
- Lay one package of crescent rolls on the bottom of the pan, pinching together to seal the sections. Flatten out and fill bottom of pan.
- Layer in the filing on top of the crescent roll and spread.
- Top the with crescent rolls, pinching the seams together and layer and spread.
- Top with melted stick of butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tea cinnamon and a splash of vanilla. Pour it all on top and bake.
Refrigerate and cut into small squares about 2x2
This is such a great recipe. You don't have to be too neat about it. It can be thrown together in minutes and I haven't met anyone who didn't like it. It's definitely a sure thing to bring to a party and people will be asking you for the recipe!
Recipe Test Subject
Let me first introduce myself in saying that I'm the official kitchen nightmare. Without looking at a recipe, I couldn't whip up anything that tastes remotely good. I once got the slow cooker out and decided to make a mix of stove top stuffing, broccoli, potatoes, a can of onion soup, chicken broth and chicken. Then I waited for five hours. As you could imagine, I had to force it down. I threw most of it out. What was I thinking? How could that have possibly tasted even a little good?
So here I am. The recipe test subject. I'm hoping I might learn something here, along with you. Or perhaps you can pass me a recipe to try it out and post it. I hope to give you some useful tips as I learn them along the way. I have a few here listed below to get you busy.
- BREAD DOUGH To get your bread dough to rise properly, lightly spray your slow cooker insert with nonstick cooking spray. Place the dough in the insert and cover until it has risen. It make its easy to see the dough's progress.
- HOT PANCAKES Bring 2 cups of water to a simmer in a large saucepan. Place a large heatproof plate on top of the saucepan. Place the pancakes on the warm plate until your ready to serve. No one likes a cold pancake, and now you can eat all together.
- HOT PANS Try using pliers instead of heavy oven mitts to take your cookie sheets out of the oven.
